Madison, WI – WiCell, a leader in stem cell research and technology, is proud to announce that Dr. Tenneille Ludwig, Senior Scientist and Director of the WiCell Stem Cell Bank, has been honored as co-recipient of the prestigious 2024 ISSCR Public Service Award along with University of Sheffield Emeritus Professor, Peter Andrews. This award by the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR), recognizes Dr. Ludwig’s significant contributions to the development of the ISSCR Standards for Human Stem Cell Use in Research.

The ISSCR Public Service Award is a testament to Dr. Ludwig’s leadership and dedication in co-chairing the ISSCR committee that developed the standards. This initiative, a collaboration between experts in the field, has set a new benchmark for rigor and reproducibility in preclinical research, propelling the advancement of therapies for patients worldwide.

ISSCR President Amander Clark, Ph.D., praised Dr. Ludwig’s efforts, stating, “The development of international standards for stem cell research was a groundbreaking, two-year journey adeptly led by Tenneille and Peter. The result of this international collaboration is a highly impactful initiative that sets the standard for rigor and reproducibility.”
