Bio Highlights: As an Assistant Director at the Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) Office of Technology Development (OTD), Kalpa Vithalani facilitates the transfer of medical device, pharmaceutical and diagnostic technologies into commercial products. She engages with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish activities in the commercialization cycle, including assessment of inventions, patenting, marketing, negotiation and execution of commercialization agreements with existing companies and new ventures. Kalpa teaches courses in intellectual property, technology transfer and the Lean Launchpad through I-Corps. She is passionate about building strategic alliances with the regional network of innovators, entrepreneurs and investors. Prior to joining MCW, Kalpa helped Imaging Biometrics, LLC with a successful 510(k) application for their first product. She has built and sold a successful wellness business, secured competitive grants for job creation and business improvement. She has served as a judge for the WI Governor’s Business Plan Contest for eight years and is an Executive Board Member at BioForward. Kalpa was a scientific evaluator for Karolinska Innovations at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. She received a PhD from Duke University and completed her post-doctoral training at the Cleveland Clinic.
