BioForward’s 2024-2025 Membership Rate Changes Explained

We wanted to inform you about an upcoming adjustment to our membership rates that will go into effect for the 2024-2025 membership year. As we strive to maintain and enhance our impact on the biohealth industry, this increase will enable us to continue providing you with benefits that will help your company and the industry grow.

We understand the importance of affordability and the value our services bring to your company. Therefore, we have put a lot of time and careful consideration into making sure our membership increases will not disrupt your budgets, but will contribute to our collective success as an industry.

BioForward has not increased membership rates in the last seven years, since then, we’ve been able to make great strides that align with our mission: positioning the industry for growth, and promoting the industry and region. For example, the 2023 -2024 Membership Year we’ve accomplished the following:

          • Contributed to elimination of the personal property tax.
          • Advocated for 10% increase in R&D tax credit refundability to 25%.
          • Submitted and won EDA Tech Hub Phase I Designation.
          • Submitted and won EDA Tech Hub Strategy Grant.
          • Held a successful, 350-person Annual Member Meeting.
          • Issued 4 community service awards to deserving individuals and companies in our community.
          • Planned and executed the 2023 Wisconsin Biohealth Summit.
          • Delivered Wisconsin Biohealth Business Achievement Award and Hector F. DeLuca Scientific Achievement Award to two outstanding individuals in the biohealth field.
          • Hired and strategized with a new PR firm.
          • Designated funds for emerging growth company representatives to attend conferences throughout the United States.
          • Facilitated two working groups that discuss trending industry topics like EHS and theranostics.
          • Maintained our relationship and continued collaborations with our partners at Fisher Scientific; collectively bringing over $40M in savings on lab supplies and purchases in 2023.

Research Behind New Rates

An analysis of over 42 different non-profit membership associations similar to BioForward were reviewed to determine how BioForward compares to the country’s average biohealth membership rates. Several associations did not display their membership rates on their webpage and were excluded from this analysis. Organizations that charged memberships based on revenue were also removed. 30 organizations remained for comparison.

A majority of the 30 organizations analyzed separated their membership dues between biohealth companies, the equivalent to BioForward’s associate industry (construction, insurance, architects, banks, etc.), and education & research institutions.
