The University of Wisconsin-Madison ranked 15th among public universities nationally, and 49th in the overall national university rankings. Last year, UW-Madison ranked 12th among public universities.
UW-Madison retained its spot as the No. 1 national university in Wisconsin, according to the U.S. News rankings.
Marquette University ranked second in the state and 89th in the national university rankings.
Princeton was the top-ranked national university, followed by Harvard and Columbia University in New York. The University of California-Los Angeles was the top-ranked public national university, followed by UC-Berkeley.
Lawrence University in Appleton is the top ranked national liberal arts college in the state, ranking 56th nationally. Beloit College was the second highest ranked national liberal arts college in the state, ranking 68th nationally. The top ranked national liberal arts college is Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Among schools that offer an engineering doctorate, UW-Madison’s engineering programs ranked 14th in the nation. UW-Milwaukee’s engineering programs ranked 116th; Marquette’s programs ranked 132nd.
Among schools that do not offer an engineering doctorate, Milwaukee School of Engineering ranked 9th, UW-Platteville ranked 35th, UW-Stout ranked 100th, UW-Stevens Point ranked 144th.
In the U.S. News business school rankings, UW-Madison’s undergraduate real estate program ranked second, its undergraduate insurance program also ranked second, and its undergraduate marketing program ranked 9th.
