Are you passionate about biohealth research? Do you excel in communicating complex ideas in engaging and effective ways? Then BioForward’s annual Student Communications Competition is your chance to shine! Whether you’re an undergraduate or a graduate/post doc/medical student, this competition provides a platform to highlight your research, sharpen your communication skills, connect with industry experts, and potentially win cash prizes—all at this year’s Wisconsin Biohealth Summit.
For undergraduate students, the challenge is to create a compelling 3-minute video on a topic concerning the use of AI in science and medicine. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore a subject you’re passionate about, and present your ideas in a visually engaging format. Visit the undergrad competition page for example topics, guidelines, and submission details to kickstart your journey.
For graduate and medical students, the task is to present your research—or your PI’s research—in a concise, clear, and captivating 3-minute video. It’s your moment to distill your findings, share them with a broader audience, and showcase your ability to communicate complex scientific ideas effectively. Last year’s winners’ videos and other helpful resources can be found on the graduate competition page to guide your preparation.
All video submissions must be completed and submitted by 5 PM CST on September 27th, 2024. After the submission deadline, BioForward staff will review the entries and select the top 5 undergraduate and graduate students demonstrating outstanding communication skills, creativity, and excellence. The chosen finalists will present their work in person at the Wisconsin Biohealth Summit on October 29th, where cash prizes await the top performers.
The Biohealth Communications Competition began in 2021 as an initiative to inspire students and fellows to hone their communication and presentation abilities. Last year’s winners, Areeba Ali from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and Yara AL-Rayyan from University of Wisconsin-Madison exemplified the incredible talent and dedication found within the biohealth community. Now, it’s your turn to join their ranks and make an impact.
Participating in this competition offers more than just the possibility of winning prizes—it’s an opportunity to develop vital communication skills, build your professional network, and establish connections with biohealth leaders. These experiences will serve as valuable assets as you continue your academic and professional journey.
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity! Start brainstorming your video ideas, gather your research, and prepare to impress the judges with your exceptional communication skills. The Biohealth Communications Competition at the 2024 Wisconsin Biohealth Summit is your chance to be heard.
Remember, the submission deadline is September 27th, 2024, so mark your calendars and get ready to showcase your passion for biohealth research. Good luck!
