Khalid K. Alam is the Founder and CEO of Stemloop. He received his PhD in Biochemistry and certificate in Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of Missouri. He continued his scientific training as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University’s Center for Synthetic Biology. While at Northwestern, Khalid led global efforts to develop cell-free biosensor technology, including the ROSALIND platform (published in Nature Biotechnology and Nature Chemical Biology). These innovations are now being commercialized at Stemloop, which Khalid launched in 2019 alongside Professors Julius Lucks and Michael Jewett. At Stemloop, Khalid has led the team from launch to nearly $3M in revenue and over $1M in venture investment. Outside of work, Khalid enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
