Seth Blacksburg is the Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer at Accuray. In this role he is responsible for leading the organization’s global clinical strategic approach, including customer education, patient access and reimbursement, and clinical research and publication strategy, while bringing the insights and voice of the customer necessary to help drive transformative technological innovations.

Dr. Blacksburg previously served as the company’s vice president, chief medical officer for the Americas (North and South America) regions. Prior to joining Accuray, he was chairman of radiation medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, a part of Northwell Health, the largest private employer in New York (state). Dr. Blacksburg managed the clinical oversight and strategic development of the department. He also served as a key member of the hospital’s cancer committee, medical board and national accreditation programs for breast and rectal cancers. During Dr. Blacksburg’s tenure with Lenox Hill the cancer program achieved Commission on Cancer accreditation and the department patient volume increased significantly.

Dr. Blacksburg is a board-certified radiation oncologist who earned a master of business administration degree while concurrently completing his medical studies. He is highly skilled in all facets of radiation oncology, including stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and radiosurgery for prostate, breast, and CNS cancers, and other tumor sites, brachytherapy, and integrating radiation with immunotherapy. Dr. Blacksburg is also considered a thought leader in medical informatics.
